Fees and Deadlines

Three deadlines exist for the bar application: timely, late, and final. Payment must be submitted according to the fee schedule found at: New Jersey Board of Bar Examiners - Fees & Deadlines (njbarexams.org).

* If a deadline falls on a Sunday or a holiday observed by the US Postal Service, the payment must be postmarked by the following business day.

When you submit your application, you will be given the option of paying by credit card. If you do not select to pay by credit card at that time, you cannot go back later and pay via credit card.

Fees may be paid online via credit card or by check or money order. A check or money order must be attached to the “Non-credit Card Payments” form, which can be found on your User Home Page when submitted through the mail or in person. Payments are non-refundable.

Credit cards transactions cannot be processed from 11:30 p.m.-12:00 a.m. EST. Credit card payments must be received prior to 11:30 p.m. EST to ensure they are posted on the same day.

Reapplicants. Only if you sat for the exam immediately preceding the current exam, you are considered a reapplicant. Reapplicants will be given a separate filing deadline based on the date the immediately preceding exam results are released.

Applicants who miss the final deadline but still wish to apply must petition the Supreme Court for an exception. Guidance on petitioning the Court can be found at: SUPREME COURT OF THE STATE OF NEW JERSEY (njbarexams.org)
